École Notre Dame Elementary
Kindness Campaign
Students are celebrating acts of kindness at their school through their Kindness Campaign.
This is the second year the school has put on this initiative, which rewards students for acts of kindness with a “dab” in the school’s “Fishbowl of Kindness.” The school celebrates as they reach certain levels of the fishbowl.
This is in alignment with Goal One: Catholic Christian Identity.
Earth Rangers
Earth Rangers made a presentation at the school about wildlife and their ecosystems. The engaging presentation included live reptiles and birds.
This aligns with Goal Two: Student Growth and Achievement.
Peace Patrol Kick-Off
Aligning with Goal One: Catholic Christian Identity, the Peace Patrol encompasses Grade 4 students pledging to help act as leaders on the playground. This program is operated with the assistance of MD Peace Officer Gillett.
In addition to keeping an eye out on the playground, students help around the school and hand out “kindness” stickers when they see other students perform acts of kindness.
Halloween Parade
Residents at the BonnyLodge waved to students as they shared their costumes during their annual Halloween Parade.
This aligns with Goal One: Catholic Christian Identity.
Dr. Bernard Brosseau
LICA
Grade 7 immersion students welcomed LICA for an exciting presentation on ecosystems, including plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms, and the impact of human activities. They also explored the important role of decomposers.
Grade 8 immersion students enjoyed LICA’s engaging Water Quality presentation where they learned about human impacts on water quality, explored solutions, and conducted hands-on water quality tests on local water bodies.

Halloween
Students and staff dressed up in their best costumes for Halloween. Activities such as a dance, arts and crafts, movies, board games, and more were scheduled throughout the day.
This aligns with Goal Three, where students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally for optimal well-being.
École Notre Dame High
Dwayne Peace
Former police officer and school resource officer Dwayne Peace made a presentation at NDHS. The school-wide assembly included group work, a parent information session, and focused on relationships, mental health, and Life’s Challenges in Secondary Schools.
This aligns with Goal Three: Equity and Inclusion and Goal One: Catholic Christian Identity.
EALL Post-Secondary Fair
Over 15 post-secondary schools attended a fair at NDHS to share information with local students..
This aligns with Goal Two: Student Success.
Twilight Fair
The NDHS Student Union hosted approximately 18 vendors for their Twilight Fair in October. The event aligns with Goal One: Catholic Christian Identity.
Holy Cross Elementary
Earth Rangers
Reptiles and birds were a part of the Earth Ranger presentation that taught students about animals, ecosystems, and potential careers in the environmental field.
This presentation aligns with Goal Two: Strengthening Career Development and Lifelong Learning.
Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada
Students explored the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada, which shows the locations of Indigenous communities, residential schools, reserves and assists the students in understanding the past, present and future of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
This aligns with Goal Three: Equity and Inclusion.
Rosary Kit
October is the Month of the Rosary, and to assist families with learning more about the rosary, the school offers a Rosary Kit for students to sign out and take home. In the kit there are instructions on how to say the rosary and a small statue of Mary.

St. Dominic Elementary
Safety Patrol
The school’s Safety Patrol are keeping families safe after school as they guide students across the street. Simultaneously, the Peace Patrol work as leaders in the school to exemplify St. Dominic’s commitment to foster a safe and caring learning environment for all students.

Take Our Kids to Work Day
Students joined their parents/guardians at St. Dominic Elementary for Take Our Kids to Work Day. This program allows Grade 9 students to experience and explore potential career paths such as teaching. Throughout the day, participating students had the opportunity to observe various aspects of school professions, engage in hands-on activities, and interact with staff and students.
This aligns with Goal Two: Student Growth and Achievement.
Pumpkin Learning
Pumpkins were used for more than just a display at St. Dominic Elementary. Students engaged in a variety of numeracy activities centered around pumpkins, including discussions on estimation, measurement, counting, and density, among other activities.

Assumption Jr/Sr High
Division YLL Day
Assumption hosted the LCSD YLL Day #Rediscover.
The day brought student leaders in faith together from across the division where they participated in games and small group discussion including conversations about how we can rediscover true relationships with one another.
Students also engaged in worship by learning a new song “Counting Every Blessing.”

Mental Health Matters Soup
The school’s IDEA Club hosted a Mental Health Matters Fall Fair in October. The event included games, craft tables, apple smash baseball, and prizes for the winners of the Mental Health Miles.
Joly’s Cuisine provided chicken noodle soup and a bun for students, and baked goods for purchase. All proceeds raised were donated to the Lakeland Humane Society.
AJSH also teamed up with Stepping Stones Crisis Society to collect coats, toques, mittens, and other gently used children’s winter gear to ensure all children are warm this winter.

Dwayne Peace Presentation
Youth speaker and founder of Life Synergy for Youth, Dwayne Peace, spoke to students at AJSH in late October. As a former police officer and school resource officer, Dwayne Peace now presents at schools about a variety of topics including body image, bullying, cyber-bullying, violent video games, respect, mental health, and much more.
This presentation aligns with Goal Three: Equity and Inclusion.
Light of Christ
Food Drive
The school collected 677 items for the Lac La Biche Canadian Native Friendship Centre Food Bank through a school-wide competition.
In addition to earning their way to an ice cream party for their class, students were learning about how many families struggle to provide food.

Welcome Fr. Anselmo
After moving to Lac La Biche during COVID restrictions, the community was finally able to come together to celebrate Fr. Anselmo.
The parish supper, which was hosted at the school, was filled with joy, singing, and a great meal.

Science in Motion
Aligning with Goal Two: Student Success, the school offered the Science in Motion program. Two representatives attended the school and presented to students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 on a variety of topics including Animal Adaptations, from Cool to Cold, Robotics, and Nature Explorers.
Holy Family Catholic
Collecting for the Community
In October, Holy Family collected $330 in monetary and 609 lbs in food donations from staff, students, and the greater community.
The school’s Leader Core students promoted the action of caring and ensured everyone was engaged.
This included participation in the school’s Hawks Scare Hunger collection.
